Cross Country Update

This past week, the entire Brentwood Cross Country program ran spectacularly in three meets.
On Thursday, the team routed Village Christian and Montclair Prep at our first home meet to become 2-0 in league (Girls' Team, Boys' Varsity, and Boy's JV teams). In their first victory, the Girls' Team had strong performances from Shea R. ('12), Shira W. ('10), Talia W. ('12), Isabel B. ('10), and Sarah C. ('11). The Boys' Team finished with 8 of the top 10 places and strong performances from Harrison S. ('11), Manny A. ('11), Benny G. ('11), Tristan W. ('11) and Abdiel G. ('10).
Also on Thursday, the Middle School Cross Country team ran at Griffith Park in their first league meet. The boys went 1, 18, 24, 34, 39, 44, 68, and 122 out of a field of 168 runners with Jake M. ('15) taking the gold. The girls went 15, 24, 38, and 78 out of a field of 100 runners.
Finally, on Saturday, Brentwood again hosted the Brentwood Invitational Cross Country Meet. On the guys side, Harrison S. defended his title, winning the 3-mile race in a time of 15:50! Other great performances came from Manny A. who broke the 17 minute barrier and Ivan N. ('12). The Boys' team placed 4th out of 15 teams. The Girls' team, despite only fielding five runners, had a strong showing with leadership from Shira W. and Sarah C.
Our next race is Thursday, October 8th at O'Melveney Park.
Middle School Cross Country Coach Narc Narcisse sums it up best, "Brentwood 'Middle' AND 'High' School XC domination! :-)"
- Bryce C. ('10)
