Things are slipping. My hands perspire at an alarming rate with the moist anxiety of my teenage body. I feel a drop of sweat run down my forehead and fall to the floor beneath me. The nerves I’m feeling only come around once a year. It’s Semi-Formal.
Semi-Formal can be one of the most stressful nights a guy may have to endure. The preparation that goes into the night is unlike anything else. First, I’ve got to make sure my hair looks stunning. And no matter how much time I dedicate to it (hair products, salon, straightening), I’m always concerned that it just doesn’t look good enough. On top of that, the pressure to find a woman is extremely difficult to handle. There are many great women at Brentwood, and sometimes, I’m overwhelmed by the pressure to find a mate. Girls judge me based 50% on looks and 50% on my ability to groove out on the dance floor. I practice my moves in front of the mirror and can only hope that my practice will pay off. Lace the shoes tight and get ready for a good night.
