Exit Through the Gift Shop- A Movie Review

This past Saturday I saw a film called Exit Through the Gift Shop, a film that I have been anticipating for about four months now. The movie is a documentary that follows how one, somewhat deranged Frenchman with a camera fell into the heart of the street art, graffiti movement by accident. For those who don't know, street art is a somewhat more complex, more accepted form of graffiti that utilizes not only spray paint, but also stickers, stencils, mosaics, sculptures, and various other items. The most notorious street artist around is an unknown Englishmen who goes by the alias of Banksy. There are other artists that one should know, such as Shepard Fairey, Invader, Blu, and Kaws (Most of whom, including Banksy, are in the film). I thoroughly enjoyed the movie and highly recommend it to anyone. For those of you who are really interested with street art, it will be an enjoyable experience to see how the best of the best operate and their listen to their views about art and life in general. For those of you who aren't familiar with this genre of art, this movie is a great way for you to introduce yourself. And for those of you who hate graffiti and condemn all of it as vandalism, this movie will change the way you think. Anyway, its playing at the Landmark in the Westside Pavilion if you are interested.
